Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Australia, is the world’s first and largest koala sanctuary, with over 130 koalas and is dedicated to the conservation of Koalas and all native Australian animals. Operating in an environmentally-friendly manner, we are all about looking after our environment, and have incorporated various environmentally-friendly initiatives into the daily operation of the sanctuary.
Australia has approximately one million of the estimated 13.6 million species of plants, animals and micro-organisms on earth. Amazingly, this represents more than 7% of the world’s total number of species; more than twice the number of species in Europe and North America combined! Australia is therefore included as one of the world’s 12 ‘mega-diverse’ countries. More than 80% of Australia’s plant and animal species are endemic, meaning these species only occur naturally in Australia. Help us take action to preserve Australia’s biodiversity, which include the Endangered Southern Cassowary.
There are plenty of things you can do at home to help the local environment. A small change in your own backyard can make a big difference! Lone Pine’s motto is “the earth is not only for humans”.
