Rainforest Rescue’s Daintree Buy Back and Protect Forever Project purchases and protects high conservation value rainforest at risk of development and establishes Nature Refuge status which protects it forever under covenants ratified by the Queensland Parliament. We focus on High Conservation Value blocks and prefer those that adjoin land we already own, for habitat connectivity and corridors.

As of 30 April 2014, we have purchased 24 properties in the Daintree. Our vision is to buy back and protect all remaining high conservation value properties in the Daintree Lowland Rainforest by 2030.

The Daintree Rainforest is of international conservation importance as one of the most significant regional ecosystems in the world. Although the Daintree National Park gained World Heritage status in 1998, at the same time the Queensland Government approved a large rural residential subdivision in the heart of the Daintree Lowland Rainforest, which divided into small freehold lots for housing.

Some of Australia’s World Heritage Listed sites are now under threat. We need your help to continue this important work. There are still 180 properties in the Daintree to buy-back.

Your donation of $25 can help to save 5m2 of Daintree Rainforest.
